Description of key information

No studies on the bioaccumulation of methenamine are available. Walton and Davis (1980) presented a measured log Kow of -2.18. The calculated log Kow is -4.15 (Becher, 1996). Neither of these Kow values indicate a potential for bioaccumulation. Hence, no further information concerning bioconcentration or bioaccumulation is required.

Additional information

The estimated Koc of 0.073 l/kg indicates no potential for geoaccumulation. Methenamine is mobile in soil. If relevant amounts reach the soil, the substance might leach into the groundwater and undergo hydrolysis to formaldehyde. Methenamine is very well water soluble and reveales low logKow values.
