Description of key information

Half-life for primary biodegradation in two freshwater lakes ranged from 20 - 28 days. Incubations were not carried out for sufficient time to quantify kinetics of mineralization. However, evolution of 14CO2 indicates the potential for complete mineralization of the substance by non-adapted surface water microorganisms.

Additional simulation testing in sediment is waived based on the substance being readily biodegradable.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Half-life in freshwater:
28 d
at the temperature of:
293 K

Additional information

Half-life for primary biodegradation in two freshwater lakes ranged from 20 - 28 days, as corrected for degradation in killed control experiments. Incubations were not carried out for sufficient time to quantify kinetics of mineralization. However, evolution of 14CO2 indicates the potential for complete mineralization of the substance by non-adapted surface water microorganisms.
