Description of key information

Flash point (closed-cup) of diethylenetriamine is 96.7 °C at 101.3 kPa.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Flash point at 101 325 Pa:
369.7 K

Additional information

Several sources report various values of flash-point, using both open-cup and closed-cup techniques. Because these values are close to the cut-off value of 100 °C, a definitive measurement was performed using the preferred Pensky-Martens closed-cup technique with a high purity (99 +%) sample of commercial diethylenetriamine. This preferred flash point value is 96.7 °C, and therefore the substance is not classified as a flammable liquid.
