Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Materials and methods

Principles of method if other than guideline:
The antimicrobial activity was studied with the agar diffusion disc method using 6 mm paper discs and quantities of 6 µL of substance. After cultivation of the bacteria and the yeast at 37 °C for 24 h, the diameter of the inhibition zone (IZ) was measured. Then, the agar serial tube dilution method was applied, yielding results as minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) as follows: The oil and pure reference compounds were added to brine, containing 1.0% (v/v) Tween 80 at the appropriate volumes to produce final concentrations of the samples in the range of 1-1000 ppm; the Petri dishes were inoculated by pipetting 0.1 cm3 of the bacterial or yeast culture and 6 µL of the test or reference compounds on paper discs (6 mm) and then incubated at 37°C for 24 h.
