Additional information

Dicyandiamide is white, odourless powder. It is, therefore, solid at room temperature with a melting point of 210 degrees C and a relative density of 1.44 g/cm³. It decomposes before boiling. The substance as manufactured has a median particle size of 1.65 µm, with approximately 90% of the mass smaller than 4 µm. The vapour pressure of Dicyandiamide is negligibly low (0.0000085 Pa at 20 °C).

Dicyandiamide is a hydrophilic compound (log Kow -1) and highly soluble in water (32 g/L at 20 °C); as such, the solubility in organic solvents / fat is not considered a relevant property of this substance as it will essentially be insoluble in non-polar solvents. Dicyandiamide is not surface active.

Dicyandiamide is non flammable, and is not susceptible to auto-ignition. It is, as most organic substance are, susceptible to dust explosions when diminuted finely enough, but is not explosive. It is not oxidizing.
