Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Applicant's summary and conclusion

Executive summary:

The following text is copied from the EU risk assessment carried out for hydrogen peroxide:

"Direct photolysis is not expected to be an important degradation process in the aquatic environment. Hydrogen peroxide has absorption bands in the infrared, but is not decomposed by the light of these frequencies. The UV absorption spectrum is a continuous spectrum but the measured molar extinction coefficient values are low. Highest value is ∈ = 4.2 l/mole.cm (at 280 nm) decreasing continuously to 0.22 l/mole.cm (at 320 nm) and 0.00066 l/mole.cm (at 400 nm) (Schumb et al., 1955)."
