Registration Dossier

Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Administrative data

First-aid measures

General information: Change contaminated clothing. Also heed the risks to your own person.
Following skin contact: Wash skin immediately with plenty of water and soap. If skin reactions occur, contact a physician.
Following eye contact: Open the eyelids and rinse for an adequate length of time with water. Consult an eye specialist immediately.
Upon swallowing: The mouth should be rinsed out several times. Consult a doctor.
Upon inhalation: Take the patient into fresh air; if there is difficulty in breathing, medical advice is required.
Information for the physician (Therapeutic measures): Basic aid, decontamination, symptomatic treatment.

Fire-fighting measures

Extinguishing media: All extinguishing materials are suitable.
Firemen have to wear self-contained breathing apparatus. Fight fire in early stages if safe to do so. In the event of an adjacent fire, cool fire down with water spray, if possible removing it from the fire area.
Do not let enter contaminated extinguishing water into soil, groundwater or surface waters.

Accidental release measures

Take up avoiding formation of dust. Fill into labelled, sealable containers. Use the necessary personal protective equipment when handling.
Pack, seal and label product wastes or uncleaned bundles and dispose according to official national regulations (e.g. thermal disposal).

Handling and storage

The new substance is handled in closed systems by qualified personnel only. Minor inhalation and dermal exposure of empolyees during production (i.e. during filling) can be excluded. The exsisting technical measures (closed system, exhaust ventilation), use of personal protective equipment and the established permit procedure for the plant with release of (parts of) the plant for repair and maintenance operations, all precautions are taken to exclude exposure or to keep them as low as possible. The plant is to be seen as leak-proofed by technical means. The new substance is strictly of industrial use and will not be available for the general public. The new substance will be used as an intermediate (wet press cake) in a chemical synthesis
only and is totally converted during processing. Handling of the substance as a wet press cake will not lead to the formation of dust.
Production takes place in closed systems. Therefore, no exposure to humans is expected.

There is no relevant exposure of the environment from the production process. Waste water, residues, mother liquors and exhausts are disposed either through the waste water treatment plant, waste incineration or thermal exhaust purification on site.
Store sealed in original container in a cool, dry place. Keep storage area clean and well ventilated. Vent waste air via suitable seperators or scrubbers. Avoid the formation of dust, if necessary siphoning the product off locally. Storerooms are to be maintained according to the principles of a good
industrial hygiene. Containers that have been opened are to be tightly closed after use. Avoid contamination of containers with the product.
Precautions should generally be taken against electrostatic charges according to the equipment used and the way the product is handled and
packaged. Do not release contaminated water into soil, groundwater or surface water.

Additional transport information

Additional information
Special provisions / remarks / other:
No dangerous cargo. Keep dry. Keep away from foodstuffs, acids and alkalis.
The producer uses packaging for the product, which meets the requirements for products with a hazard potential as far as
tightness and stability are concerned. Consequently transport is possible without increased danger as long as attention is paid to the usual
measures such as stack height, protection against falling and correct labelling. In case of partially fractured containers, these must be kept closed carefully on any transport, in order to prevent spillage.

Exposure controls / personal protection

Exposure limit values: Not available
Manufacture takes place under strictly controlled conditions.
The substance is rigorously contained, appropriate risk management measures are applied and a management system is in place.
An authorisation scheme covers the process and a procedure ensures that only trained and authorised persons handle the substance.
Process procedures for containment during cleaning and maintenance have been accounted for in plant and engineering design as appropriate for the site.
Procedures to ensure containment have been applied for all stages of production and processing.
Occupational procedures have been assessed and are documented.

When handling observe the usual precautionary measures for chemicals. Avoid skin and eye contact as well as the inhalation of dust.
The working area must be ventilated, if necessary local exhaust ventilation. Vent waste air via suitable separators or scrubbers.
All workers should be wearing effective personal protective equipment.
Respiratory protection: Combination filter against organic vapours and particles, e.g. DIN 3181 ABEK-P2 (i.e. DIN EN 143), in case of dust formation.
E ye protection: goggles
Hand protection: e.g. gloves of rubber or PVC.
After contamination with product, change the gloves immediately and remove them according to relevant national and local regulations.
Keep working clothes separate. Change contaminated clothing immediately. Wash hands before breaks and at end of work. Precaution should
generally be taken against electrostatic charges according to the equipment used and the way the product is handled and packaged.
Management systems are established. Saltigo GmbH is certified according to DIN EN ISO 9001 and DIN EN ISO 14001; responsibilities and accountabilities are decribed in a QM-system consisting of several QM-handbooks and product folders. Saltigo GmbH acknowledges its responsibilities towards product stewardship and follows its principles. This includes information, consultation of partners and customers to ensure all products are transported, handled, stored, used and disposed in a safe and secure manner.

Stability and reactivity

Thermal decomposition: No thermal decomposition when stored and handled correctly.
Hazardous decomposition products: No hazardous decomposition products when stored and handled correctly. Formation of carbon monoxide,
carbon dioxide, sulphur dioxide, nitrogen oxides and other toxic gases in the event of fire or during thermal decomposotion.

Further information: Incompatible substances: alkalis and acids.

Disposal considerations

Examine possibilities for re-utilization. Product residues and uncleaned empty containers should be packaged, sealed, labelled, and disposed of or
recycled according to relevant national and local regulations (e.g. thermal disposal). Where large quantities are concerned, consult the supplier. When uncleaned empty containers are passed on, the recipient must be warned of any possible hazard that may be caused by residues.
For disposal within the EC, the appropriate code according to the European Catalogue (EWC) should be used.
