Description of key information

In this toxicity study on earth worms, the LD50 following 7 days and 14 days exposure was investigated. The results revealed that the test item exhibits no toxic effect at all towards the test organism. The LD50 was found to be greater than 1000 mg/kg (dry matter of soil).

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The test item was tested for its possible toxic effects on earth worms (Eisenia fetida fetida) according to OECD guideline No. 207.

The test was performed with the following nominal test item concentrations: 1000, 100, 10, 1 mg/kg soil dw.

The positive control chloroacetamid was used as a reference chemical (concentrations: 10, 20, 40 mg/kg) . Mortality was assessed 7 and 14 days after application. Under the conditions of the test, none of the worms were killed in any of the treatments. Change of weight in all the test treatments was lower than in the controls. Thus, there is evidence, that the test item exhibits no toxic effect at all towards the test organism. Therefore, the LD50 is greater than 1000 mg/kg (dry matter of soil).
