Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

Short-term toxicity to fish

The acute toxicity to fish was assessed according to EU-method C.1. In this 96-hour semi-static acute toxicity test with zebrafish, the LC50 value was determined to be greater than 100 mg/L (nominal concentration).

Short-term toxicity to aquatic invertebrates

In accordance with EU method C.2 a study was performed to assess the acute toxicity of the test item to Daphnia magna. The organisms were exposed to an aqueous solution of the test material in the concentration range 1 -100 mg/L (nominal values) for 48 hours at a temperature of 20 °C under static test conditions. The number of immobilised Daphnia were recorded after 24 and 48 hours. The 48 -hour EC50 obtained for the test material to Daphnia magna based on nominal test concentrations of test item was > 100 mg/L.

Long-term toxicity to aquatic invertebrates

A long-term toxicity of the test item to the freshwater invertebrate Daphnia magna is available , but is regarded to be invalid. The study was performed as limit test , with sever difficulties to maintain the concentration and track the substance analytically.

In a repeated 21 day chronic toxicity study, Daphnia magna were exposed to Cetiol CC at nominal concentrations of 0 (control) , 2 mg/L under static renewal conditions in accordance with OECD 211 guideline. The water pH, temperature and dissolved O2 were within acceptable guideline specifications. Mortality , reproduction and sublethal effects were observed daily.

The following overall effect concentration (mg/L) are for the most sensitive endpoint (reproduction) and were obtained based on nominal concentrations:

LOEC: > 2 mg/L (nominal)

NOEC: > 2 mg/L (nominal)

No significant mortality or any other additional significant adverse effects or abnormal behaviour were observed in any test treatments.

The test substance had no observable chronic effect on Daphnia magna up to its saturation limit in test media..

Short-term toxicity to algae:

The effect of the test item on the growth of Scenedesmus subspicatus has been investigated in the course of this acute algal growth inhibition test on Scenedesmus subspicatus over a 72-hour period. An ErC50 value of greater than 100 mg/L was found.

Toxicity to microorganisms:

The respiration rate of an activated sludge after an incubation duration of three hours was investigated according to OECD Guideline 209. Based on measured oxygen consumption values the 3-hour EC50 value of the test item was determined to be higher than 110 mg/L. The EC10 value was determined to be 62 mg/L
