Description of key information

Exposure of algae to 2-phenyl, 3-3-bis (4-hydroxy phenyl) phthalimidine for 72 hours resulted in a median effective concentration (EC50) of 2.6 mg a.i./L (95% confidence interval = 2.0 to 3.2 mg a.i./L) when determined using the number of cells/mL, greater than 8.7 mg a.i./L when calculated using the average specific growth rate, and 3.2 mg a.i./L (95% confidence interval = 2.6 to 4.1 mg a.i./L) when determined using the area under the growth curve. When treatment data are compared to the control, the 72 hour NOEC is 1.4 mg a.i./L 2-phenyl, 3-3-bis (4-hydroxy phenyl) phthalimidine when determined using the number of cells/mL, the average specific growth rate, or the area under the growth curve.
