Mean value from both samples: σ = 60.9 mN/m

Conclusions:
The surface tension of FAT 40826 at 20.9 °C in water (concentration 0.1 %) was determined to be 60.9 mN/m.
Executive summary:

In a GLP-compliant study, the determination of the surface tension of an aqueous solution of FAT 40826/A was based on the OECD Guideline No. 115: "Surface Tension of Aqueous Solutions" (1995) and on the EEC Directive 92/69, Part A, Methods for the determination of physico-chemical properties, A.5 "Surface tension", EEC Publication No. L383, December 1992. The calibration factor <t>b was determined to be 1.0154 for double distilled water. In conclusion, the surface tension of FAT 40826/A in water (at a concentration of about 0.1 %) was determined to be 60.9 mN/m at 20.9 °C. Based on the criteria as outlined in the EEC Guideline, FAT 40826/A is not a surface active substance.
