Description of key information

The flashpoint of 1,1-dichloroethene is -28°C (closed cup method). Its flash point is the basis of the classification of 1,1-dichloroethene as extremely flammable.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Flash point at 101 325 Pa:
245 K

Additional information

The flash point of 1,1 -dichloroethene as reported in the different data sources was rather consistent -28°C (closed cup method) and between -30 and -16°C (open cup method). As the closed cup method is the preferred method for the determination of the flash point, the value provided by the Kirk-Othmer Encyclopedia (-28°C) was defined as the key parameter.
