Registration Dossier

Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Administrative data

First-aid measures

Emergency measure - Inhalation: Remove from exposure. If not breathing, give artificial
respiration. Obtain medical attention.
Emergency measure - Eyes: Rinse eyes thoroughly with water for at least 15 minutes.
Obtain medical attention.
Emergency measure - Skin: Remove contaminated clothing. Thoroughly wash exposed area
with soap and water. Obtain medical attention.
Emergency measure - Ingestion: Give copious amounts of water and induce vomiting. Obtain
medical attention.

Fire-fighting measures

Recommended extinguishing agent: Water spray, dry chemical or foam mist.

Product arising from burning: The substance is combustible and will burn if involved in a
fire, evolving noxious fumes (eg oxides of carbon, nitrogen,

sulfur and halogenated species). However, there is no
experimental evidence to support the anticipated combustion
products.

Product determined by test: N

Protective equipment: Full protective clothing and self-contained breathing
apparatus must be worn.

Accidental release measures

Emergency measures in case of spillage: Evacuate personnel from immediate vicinity.

Carefully, sweep, scoop or using a HEPA vacuum, vacuum up
spill. Minimize contact with spilled material. Keep other
personnel away from the clean up area. Wear appropriate
respiratory protection and protective clothing in the spill
area. Notify a supervisor immediately. Clean area with an
alkaline detergent/cleaner. Dispose of spilled material and
clean up materials in an environmentally sound manner.
Incineration is the preferred disposal method.

Handling and storage

Handling: The substance should be stored, handled and used in
conditions of good industrial hygiene and in conformity with

any local regulations in order to avoid exposure to skin,
eyes and inhalation.

Engineering controls are necessary to reduce exposure to the

substance.

When exposure cannot be prevented or adequately controlled,
the use of personal protective equipment such as rubber
latex gloves along with a face mask incorporating an
appropriate particulate filter should be used. Such personal

protective equipment should conform to the appropriate
European or national standards as follows:

Protective gloves to EN374

Protective clothing to EN368

Eye protection to EN166

RPE to EN149 as a minimum.

The standards mentioned above should be regarded as a
minimum.

Storage: Store in a dry well-ventilated area at ambient temperature.

Keep containers tightly closed when not in use.

Packaging of the substance and or preparation: Double plastic lined fibreboard drums.

Stability and reactivity

Danger other than fire: None known.

Chemical reaction with water: None which is hazardous.

Dust explosion: Under normal conditions of use this material does not
present a significant explosion hazard. However, like most
organic compounds it is combustible and may form a dust
explosion if widely dispersed in air.

Dust explosion determined by test: N

Disposal considerations

Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: There will be no discharge to the environment. Recovery from
minor spillages or accidental discharge is not economically
or technically feasible, and such waste material will be
disposed of by incineration. In principle, it may be
possible to recover larger spillages of uncontaminated
material for subsequent use.

Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: The tests submitted in support of this notification have
shown that the substance is acutely toxic by oral exposure.

No chemical treatment is practicable to neutralise the
hazardous health properties.

The dust hazard will be minimised by appropriate storage and
handling methods.

The substance is very toxic to aquatic organisms and may
cause long term adverse effects in the environment.

Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Contaminated containers or spillages of solutions mixed with
inert material (eg sand or soil) should not normally be
disposed of by landfill.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: The substance can be disposed of by incineration by burning
under controlled conditions at a licensed waste treatment
processor in accordance with local regulations. Stack gases
should be scrubbed, because noxious fumes could be formed.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: The substance should not be discharged directly to the
sewage system or the aqueous environment. However,
adverse effects on sewage treatment systems would be
unlikely.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - other: None.

Public at large - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Not applicable.

Public at large - Possibility of neutralisation: Not applicable.

Public at large - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Not applicable.

Public at large - Possibility of destruction - incineration: Not applicable.

Public at large - Possibility of destruction - water purification: Not applicable.
