A complex residuum from the vacuum distillation of the residuum from atmospheric distillation of crude oil. It consists of hydrocarbons having carbon numbers predominantly greater than C34 and boiling above approximately 495°C (923°F).
a primary eye irritation study, 0.1 mL of Vacuum Residuum was instilled
into the conjunctival sac of the right eye of 9 New Zealand White
Rabbits. Group II animals had the treated eyey flushed 30

eye irritation scores for the unwashed eyes at 1, 24, 48, and 72 hours
were 2.0, 4.0, 4.2, and 1.8, respectively. Primary eye irritation scores
for the washed eyes at 1, 24, 48, and 72 hours were 1.3, 5.3, 2.0, and
0.7, respectively. In
this study, Vacuum Residuum is considered not irritating to the rabbit

by day 7.
study received a Klimisch score of 1 and is classified as reliable
