Description of key information

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Skin sensitisation

Endpoint conclusion
Endpoint conclusion:
no study available
Additional information:

In accordance with REACH Annexes VII and VIII column 2 adaptation, studies on skin sensitisation do not need to be conducted as the substance is flammable in air at room temperature. No studies have been conducted on skin sensitisation with 1,3-butadiene but there are no indications from repeat dose studies that 1,3-butadiene causes skin sensitisation.

Short description of key information:
There are no data on skin sensitisation and no indications that 1,3-butadiene is a skin sensitiser. Studies on skin sensitisation do not need to be conducted as the substance is a flammable gas at room temperature.

Respiratory sensitisation

Endpoint conclusion
Endpoint conclusion:
no study available
Additional information:

No studies have been conducted on respiratory sensitisation with 1,3-butadiene but there are no indications that 1,3-butadiene is a respiratory sensitizer.

Short description of key information:
No studies have been conducted but there are no data to indicate that 1,3-butadiene is a respiratory sensitizer.

Justification for classification or non-classification

There is no indication that 1,3-butadiene causes skin or respiratory sensitisation and therefore, 1,3-butadiene does not warrant classification under Dir 67/548/EEC or GHS/CLP.
