Description of key information

The short-term toxicity to aquatic invertebrates study is not needed as charcoal is highly insoluble in water.

Additional information

Short-term toxicity testing on invertebrates is not required in accordance with REACh Regulation (EC) No. 1907/2006, Annex VII, 9.1.1., as charcoal is highly insoluble in water (see IUCLID section 4.8) and unlikely to cross biological membranes due to particle size (see IUCLID section 4.15) and a log POW of <1.4 (see IUCLID section 4.7).
