PNECs were derived for freshwater, saltwater, sediment, and soil using either experimental results or equilibrium partitioning calculations. The PNECS derived using experimental data were based on Klimisch 1 or 2 studies.

Conclusion on classification

The lowest acute result, based on the acetate ion, was calculated to be >300.82mg/l. The lowest chronic result, based on the acetate ion, was calculated to be 300.82mg/l. These results indicate that acetic acid would not result in an acute or a long term classification.
