Additional information

Toluene is not expected to hydrolyse in the environment due to a lack of hydrolysable functional groups.

The estimated half life of toluene is 2.59 days based on a recommended reaction rate with hydroxyl radicals (Atkinson 1985) and the concentration of hydroxyl radicals recommended in the Technical Guidance Document (2003). Therefore toluene is not expected to persist in the environment.
