DNEL values for inhalation have been derived based on dihydrogen
sulfide, the most toxic and volatile constituent of green liquor. The
sulfides, (mono)sulfide, hydrogensulfide and dihydrogen sulfide are
major toxic constituents of Green liquor and therefore it is justified
to use read across information and utilize relative large dataset
available for volatile sulfides/soluble sulfide salts.
DNEL values have not been derived for general population because of the
exposure considerations. Green liquor is used entirely in industrial
processes, as an intermediate in pulp mills (IPC sites) and in basic
metals industry (IPC sites), and no exposure to general population is
