Description of key information

In accordance with column 2 of REACH Annex VII, explosive properties test (required in section 7.11) does not need to be conducted as there are no chemical groups associated with explosive properties present in sodium hypochlorite (refer to Guidance on information requirements and chemical safety assessment, Chapter R.7a).

Justification for classification or non-classification

Based on the structure of the molecule and taking into account the provisions laid down in Council Directive 67/548/EEC and CLP, sodium hypochlorite does not have to be classified with respect to explosiveness.
