Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

Sugar Factory Lime (SFL) is a light brown solid with a melting point of >450 deg C [EU Method A1]. The water solubility was measured as 16.3 mg/L at 20 deg C [EU Method A6] and the relative density as 1.88 at 23 deg C [EU Method A3]. SFL is not flammable [EU Method A10] and not auto flammable [EU Method A16]. It is predicted to be non-explosive and non-oxidising based on its chemical structure and experience of handling and use.

Particle size distribution data indicates that SFL is potentially inhalable however testing to determine the dust generation potential of SFL as manufactured and supplied indicates that the inhalable fraction is <0.5 %w/w and hence inhalation of the substance as manufactured and supplied for use is unlikely.

The physical and chemical properties of SFL are supported by those of calcium carbonate.
