Description of key information

Zirconium dioxide is a stable inorganic metal oxide with the metal in its highest oxidation state, and therefore not sensitive to oxygen release. This is confirmed by the release of energy when zirconium is oxidized and by the limited amount of hydrogen which is consumed by pure ZrO2 at high temperature (1200K). Furthermore, experience in the day-to-day handling and use of the substance shows no oxidizing potential.
