Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

According to Q(SAR) data using SRC AOP, EA will be slowly degraded by photochemical processes after exposure to the air reacting with the photochemically produced hydroxyl radicals and with ozone (calculated half-life for a 24-hour day and 0.5E06 OH/cm3: 35.4 hours; for a 24-hour day and 7E11 O3/cm3: 6.5 days) (BASF SE, 2008).

In a hydrolysis study conducted by Ricerca Inc. (BAMM 1990), the half-life of ethyl acrylate in water at pH 11 was determined to be approximately 182 h. Approximate hydrolysis half-life values for pH 3 and pH 7 were 6.7E+03 days at pH 3 and 1.5E+03 days at pH 7.

Therefore, the substance will hydrolyse slowly in contact with water under environmental conditions.
