Description of key information

Biodegradation in wayer: screening tests:

MEA Polyborate 1:3 was readily biodegradable under the conditions of the modified Sturm test conducted under GLP conditions.

Biodegradation in water: sediment simulation testing

Study scientifically not necessary because the substance is readily biodegradable

Biodegradation in water: simulation testing on ultimate degradation in surface water

Study scientifically not necessary because the substance is readily biodegradable

As MEA Polyborate is used in fertilisers, this test might be considered.  However, the low potential to adsorb to soil has been demonstrated from the adsorption/desorption screening test (REACH 9.3.1), and in addition the substance has been shown to be readily biodegradable.  For this reason, it is proposed that this study be waived.
