Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

First-aid measures

First-aid measures general : Check the vital functions. Unconscious: maintain adequate airway and respiration. Respiratory

arrest: artificial respiration or oxygen. Cardiac arrest: perform resuscitation. Victim conscious

with laboured breathing: half-seated. Victim in shock: on his back with legs slightly raised.

Vomiting: prevent asphyxia/aspiration pneumonia. Prevent cooling by covering the victim (no

warming up). Keep watching the victim. Give psychological aid. Keep the victim calm, avoid

physical strain. Depending on the victim's condition: doctor/hospital.

First-aid measures after inhalation : Remove the victim into fresh air.

First-aid measures after skin contact : Wash immediately with lots of water (15 minutes)/shower. Soap may be used.

First-aid measures after eye contact : Rinse immediately with plenty of water for 15 minutes. Take victim to an ophthalmologist. Do

not apply neutralizing agents.

First-aid measures after ingestion : Rinse mouth with water. Ingestion of large quantities: immediately to hospital. Call Poison

Information Centre (www.who.int/ipcs/poisons/centre/directory/en).

Fire-fighting measures

Fire hazard : DIRECT FIRE HAZARD. Combustible. In finely divided state: increased fire hazard. INDIRECT

FIRE HAZARD. Temperature above flashpoint: higher fire/explosion hazard.

Explosion hazard : No supplementary information available.

Reactivity : Upon combustion CO and CO2 are formed. Violent to explosive reaction with (strong) oxidizers.

Violent exothermic reaction with (strong) bases: pressure rise and possible bursting of

container.

General measures : Mark the danger area. Prevent dust cloud formation, e.g. by wetting. No naked flames.

Exposure to fire/heat: keep upwind. Exposure to heat: have neighbourhood close doors and

windows. In case of dust production: keep upwind. Dust production: have neighbourhood close

doors and windows. In case of dust production: stop engines and no smoking. In case of dust

production: no naked flames or sparks. Dust: spark-/explosionproof appliances/lighting

equipment. Wash contaminated clothes.

Accidental release measures

General measures Mark the danger area - Prevent dust cloud formation, e.g. by wetting - No naked

flames - Exposure to fire/heat: keep upwind - Exposure to heat: have neighbourhood

close doors and windows - In case of dust production: keep upwind - Dust production:

have neighbourhood close doors and windows - In case of dust production: stop

engines and no smoking - In case of dust production: no naked flames or sparks -

Dust: spark-/explosionproof appliances/lighting equipment - Wash contaminated

clothes

Personal protection (Emergency response)

Gloves - Face-shield - Protective clothing - Heat/fire exposure: compressed

air/oxygen apparatus - Dust cloud production: compressed air/oxygen apparatus -

Dust cloud production: dust-tight suit - See "Material-Handling" to select protective

clothing

Handling the product Comply with the legal requirements - Measure the concentration in the air regularly -

Carry operations in the open/under local - exhaust/ventilation or with respiratory

protection - Reduce/avoid exposure and/or contact - Avoid raising dust - Clean

contaminated clothing - Keep container tightly closed - Keep away from naked

flames/heat - Finely divided: spark- and explosionproof appliances - Finely divided:

keep away from ignition sources/sparks - Powdered form: no compressed air for

pumping over

Leak Contain released substance, pump into suitable containers - Consult "Materialhandling"

to select material of containers - Plug the leak, cut off the supply - Knock

down/dilute dust cloud with water spray - Powdered form: no compressed air for

pumping over spills

Disposal Stop dust cloud by humidifying - Powdered: do not use compressed air for pumping over spills -

Scoop solid spill into closing containers - See "Material-handling" for

suitable container materials - Clean contaminated surfaces with an excess of water -

Wash clothing and equipment after handling

Handling and storage

Handling temperature : ≥ 10 °C above melting point

Prohibitions on mixed storage : KEEP SUBSTANCE AWAY FROM: oxidizing agents. (strong) bases.

Storage area : Store in a dry area. Meet the legal requirements. Store at room temperature.

Special rules on packaging : SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: closing. correctly labelled. meet the legal requirements. Secure

fragile packagings in solid containers.

Packaging materials : SUITABLE MATERIAL: stainless steel. aluminium. glass. steel with plastic inner lining.

Exposure controls / personal protection

Personal protective equipment : Gloves. Face shield. Protective clothing. In case of dust production: protective goggles. In case

of dust production: head/neck protection. In case of dust production: dustproof clothing. Dust

production: dust mask with filter type P2.

Materials for protective clothing : GIVE GOOD RESISTANCE: rubber.

Stability and reactivity

Upon combustion CO and CO2 are formed. Violent to explosive reaction with (strong) oxidizers. Violent exothermic reaction with (strong) bases:

pressure rise and possible bursting of container.

Stable under normal conditions.

Disposal considerations
