Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Administrative data

Endpoint:
flash point of flammable liquids
Data waiving:
study technically not feasible
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the substance is inorganic
the study does not need to be conducted because the flash point is only relevant to liquids and low melting point solids
Cross-referenceopen allclose all
Reason / purpose for cross-reference:
data waiving: supporting information
Reference
White crystalline solid, as a coarse powder, consisting of single particles, of irregular shape.
Physical state at 20°C and 1013 hPa:
solid

A fully reliable description of the substance is available from an experimental report, and is considered as key data.

Supporting observation under microscope is also provided for additional information.

Reason / purpose for cross-reference:
data waiving: supporting information
Reference
Decomposes without melting up to 400°C.

A fully reliable experimental study, conducted according to a recognized OECD/EC method and under GLP, is available. Therefore, it is considered as a key study. Crystal water loss was observed from ca 75°C, but no melting occured up to 400°C. Therefore, the result is expressed as a limit value, and cannot be retained as key data for purpose of CSA.

Reason / purpose for cross-reference:
data waiving: supporting information
Reference
Endpoint:
flammable solids
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
28 May 2010- 5 August 2010
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study
Remarks:
This study has been performed according to OECD and EC guidelines and according to GLP principles. The test substance is adequately characterised. Therefore full validation applies.
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.10 (Flammability (Solids))
Deviations:
no
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
UN Manual of Tests and Criteria: Test N.1 (Test method for readily combustible solids)
Deviations:
no
GLP compliance:
yes (incl. QA statement)
Test procedure:
burning rate test: preliminary screening test
Remarks on result:
substance does not ignite and propagate combustion either by burning with flame or smouldering along 200 mm of the powder train within the 2 minutes test period

In contact with the flame of the gas burner, the test substance glowed. After removal of the ignition source, no propagation of combustion of the test substance was observed.

Interpretation of results:
not classified based on GHS criteria
Conclusions:
The test item is NOT classified as a flammable solid according to Regulation (EC) N°1272/2008 (CLP) criteria.
Executive summary:

The substance was tested for its flammable properties, according to EU A10/UN N1 guideline, and under GLP.

Test material has been determined NOT to be a flammable solid, as it failed to propagate ignition in the preliminary screening test.
