Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

No reference data are available for the density of iron pellets so the density has been assessed by read-across of density data for di-iron trioxide (Fe2O3) and calculated density of iron sinter. The rationale for this is based upon the fact that Iron pellets typically contain >90% di-iron trioxide (Fe2O3) and therefore the density will be similar to, but lower than, that of the pure oxide (5.25 g/cm3). Accordingly, it is estimated by read-across that the density of iron pellets will be approximately 5 g/cm3.
