Description of key information

Iron pellets are not flammable in air or in contact with water. All the metal ions in iron pellets, including those of iron, are present in their maximum oxidation states and further oxidation is not possible. In accordance with section 1 of REACH Annex XI, a study on flammability in contact with water does not need to be conducted since iron pellets are inert and do not react with water. In accordance with section 1 of REACH Annex XI, a study on pyrophoric properties does not need to be conducted, since experience in production and handling shows the material to be stable at room temperature.
