Additional information

In a DOC removal test according to ISO 7827 the biodegradation of sebacic acid was investigated [BASF AG, 1990]. After 7 days 98 % degradation was determined. Additionally a study on biodegradation of sebacic acid in seawater was conducted according to OECD 306 [BASF SE, 2009]. With a biodegradation of 89 % after 28 days this test confirms the previous result.

Secaic acid is readily biodegradable. In Annex IX of Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006, it is laid down that the study on soil and sediment simulation testing does not need to be conducted if the substance is readily biodegradable.
