Description of key information

The photoirritation index for undiluted DHDS stove oil was determined to be  -0.5 and is therefore considered to be a non-photoirritant under the test conditions.

Additional information

In a dermal photoirritation study, 0.3 mL of undiluted DHDS stove oil plus photoirritant (1% 8-MOP) were applied under occlusive conditions to clipped, intact skin of 5 female New Zealand White rabbits for one hour then exposed to UV A light for 4.8 hours. A concurrent control was not exposed to UV A light. Sites were evaluated by Draize method at 30 minutes, 24, 48, and 72 hours after UV A irradiation. Positive and negative controls responded appropriately. The photoirritation index for the test material was -0.5 and is therefore considered to be a non-photoirritant under the test conditions.
