- Executive summary:
The surface tension of a solution of Aluminium chloride hydroxide sulphate (content ca 16%, as typically manufactured) was measured according to OECD 115/EU A5 guidelines, ring method. Five measurements, at the maximum testing concentration of 1 g solution/L in double-distilled water and 20°C, were recorded, and the mean value was corrected with calibration factor from water and for Harkins-Jordan ring dimension factor.
The final retained result is 74.5 mN/m.
Reference
The water calibration factor was calculated to be 1.03.
The mean of five consistent measurement was 72.3 mN/m (before correction).

Additional information
A fully reliable experimental study, conducted according to a recognized OECD/EC method and under GLP, is available. Therefore, it is considered as a key study, and the result is retained as key data. It should be noted that the test concentration refers to the substance as manufactured, i.e. 1 g/L of solution, not of salt.
Furthermore, inorganic substances are generally known to have no impact or slightly increase the surface tension of water.
