Additional information

Abiotic redox and hydrolysis reactions are the main processes determining environmental fate and distribution of CaSi. The solubility in distilled water is low and slow. CaSi hydrolysis rate in water is higher in asidic solution than in neutral or alkaline conditions. Hydrolysis/dissolution products are primarily Si(OH)4 and Ca2+ . Phototransformations and biodegradation are not important fate processes of CaSi.
