EC50 (72 hr) =1840mg/l, 911mg/l, 623mg/L (based on biomass)

EC50 (72hr)=1854mg/l.

EC50 (72hr) >1000mg/l.

EC50 (96hr) =720mg/l.

NOEC (72hr)= 62.5, 88mg/l (based on biomass), 250, 286mg/l (based on growth rate)

NOEC (96hr) >280mg/l

NOEC (72hr) =500mg/l

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC50 for freshwater algae:
623 mg/L
EC10 or NOEC for freshwater algae:
88 mg/L

Additional information

A number of algal toxicity studies on a single species are available, Five of them are considered sufficiently reliable to be useable to derive the EC50 key parameter for this end point. The other studies available are 7 or 8 days studies which are too long to permit exponential growth. It should be noted that data from these other studies are supportive of the key parameter. The key parameter is chosen based on biomass rather than growth rate as it is lower and therefore more conservative. The EC10 or LOEC is based on the highest of the two ECb0 values available from the two key studies that is still lower than the lowest LOEC value from the same studies. The LOEC is based on the lower of the two values from the two studies (based on the more conservative biomass end point.)
