Justification for classification or non-classification

Eye and skin irritation studies were conducted with ‘glycerides, C8-18 and C18-unsatd. (SDA Reporting Number: 01-001-00)’ and other structurally similar substances of the same read-across category. Overall, this group of substances is assessed to be not to mildly irritating to skin and eyes.

Exposure via the inhalation route and consequent respiratory irritation is not expected given the physical state and low vapour pressure of ‘glycerides, C8-18 and C18-unsatd. (SDA Reporting Number: 01-001-00)’, as well as the fact that it is not handled or marketed as a liquid or a powder.

Based on the above information, the substance does not require to be classified for irritation properties according to Directive 67/548/EC or Regulation 1272/2008/EC.
