Additional information

With the analogue substance sodium formate, two acute toxicity studies with Pimephales promelas and Oncorhynchus mykiss were performed under GLP according to guideline EPA OTS 797.1400. Test item concentrations were analytically verified. In both studies the 96-h LC50 was determined to be greater than 1000 mg/L (Hoechst Celanese, 1990).

The acute toxicity of potassium formate to saltwater fish was tested in a 96 -h static toxicity study with Scopthalmus maximus. The test item concentrations were not analytically verified, but can be assumed to be stable over the test period. The 96 -h LC50 was determined to be 1720 mg/L (95% CI: 1675 to 1765 mg/L; HRC, 1992).
