Materials and methods
Test guideline
- Qualifier:
- no guideline followed
- Principles of method if other than guideline:
- In all tests trace metal salts were dissolved in deionised triple glass distilled water and were administered by ip, po and iv routes.
GROSS BEHAVIOURAL EFFECT STUDY: 1/10 of LD50 dose was administered by the p.o route. The gross behavioural changes were recorded at 30, 60, 120 and 240 mins. The changes in rectal temperature were recorded by using the thermocouple probes on the Digital precision thermometer - DU - 3S,. Behavioural effects were scored on a scale of 0-8 were 4 was normal, <4 indicated a decrease in activity and > 4 indicated an increase in activity. For body temperature the normal score was 0.
PENTOBARBITONE-INDUCED HYPNOSIS IN RATS: Salts were administered at 1/10th of LD50 dose one hour before pentobarbitone sodium (40 mg / kg ip). The time lapse from the loss and gain of righting reflex was calculated and expressed as sleeping time,. - GLP compliance:
- not specified
- Test type:
