Description of key information

The BCF value is from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency EPI-Suite QSAR model, BCFBAF.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

BCF (aquatic species):
3.162 L/kg ww

Additional information

The EPI Suite (Q)SAR model from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency estimates the bioaccumulation potential of HCN to be low (BCF = 3.162 L/kg ww).

The review paper by Callahan et al. (1979) states "there is little potential for bioaccumulation of hydrogen cyanide."

According to Annex IV of Regulation (EC) No. 1272/2008, hydrogen cyanide and its sodium and potassium salts are not classified as PBTs.
