Description of key information

In accordance with 7.13 column 2 of REACH Annex VII, a study on oxidising properties does not need to be conducted as 1,1,1,2-tetrafluoroethane (HFC 134a) is incapable of reacting exothermically with combustible materials, e.g. the substance is organic and does not contain oxygen or halogen atoms chemically bonded to nitrogen or oxygen.

Justification for classification or non-classification

As 1,1,1,2-tetrafluoroethane (HFC 134a) is not expected to have oxidising properties, classification for oxidising properties is not applicable according to EU Directive 67/548/EEC and EU Classification, Labelling and Packaging of Substances and Mixtures, (CLP) Regulation (EC) No. 1272/2008.
