Thus, the results were obtained via a scientifically reasonable method and the obtained results can be considered as reliable to assess the short-term toxicity of the test substance towards fish.
In a semi-static test the freshwater fish Danio rerio was exposed to the test substance at the concentrations of nominal 4526, 6400, 9051 and 10000 mg/L and a control for a period of 96 hours under defined conditions. Using AAS detection arithmetic mean measured concentrations of 0.0075, 0.23, 0.72 and 3.21 mg Cr/L (dissolved chromium) were determined. Based on the obtained results no effects were observed on the test fish up to the highest concentration tested and the 96h LC50 for Danio rerio was determined to be > 10000 mg test substance/L, corresponding to > 3.21 mg Cr/L based on the arithmetic mean measured concentration of dissolved Chromium. Based on the absence of any effect on the appearance and the behaviour of the test fish, the 96h NOEC was determined to be ≥ 10000 mg test substance/L, corresponding to ≥ 3.21 mg Cr/L based on the arithmetic mean measured concentration of dissolved Chromium. - Executive summary:
