Based on information from its constituents and similar deodorizer distillates, ‘oils, vegetable, deodorizer distillates' is expected to be readily biodegradable. Its main constituents, unbranched fatty acids and triglycerides are easily broken down by a range of microorganisms such as gram-positive or gram-negative bacteria, a number of fungi and yeasts as well as several types of algae, regardless of their functional groups and chain length. ‘Oils, vegetable, deodorizer distillates' is therefore unlikely to persist in the aquatic or terrestrial environments.
