As discussed in section 1.2 ‘oils, vegetable, deodorizer distillates’ is a complex combination glycerides, fatty acids (including their esters) and unsaponifiable matter (e.g. tocopherols, sterols, sterol esters and hydrocarbons, e.g. squalene) which varies depending on the vegetable oil feedstock type and the process efficiency of the deodorizer. The glycerides and fatty acids of the substance are characterised by alkyl chain lengths between C8 and C18, including C18-unsatd. and the exact distribution also depends on the vegetable oil feedstock.
