The acute toxicity of the test item to fish (zebrafish) was conducted with a saturated solution (100 mg/L, nominal concentration) of the test item. No mortalities were observed.

The long-term toxicity to fish (rainbow trout) was tested according to OECD 204 (flow-through) with a saturated solution (67 mg/L nominal) of the test item. No signs of toxicity were observed and therefore the NOEC was laid down as 67 mg/L.

Short- and long-term toxicity to aquatic invertebrates were tested with daphnia magna. The short-term study according to OECD 202 resulted in EC50 > 100 mg/L (nominal). In the semi-static long-term test the NOEC was laid down as 1000 mg/L (nominal).

The toxicity of the test item to the unicellular freshwater green alga Desmodesmus subspicatus was determined according to OECD 201. The study was conducted under static conditions with a saturated solution of 100 mg/L of the test item. In this study the test item did not cause any inhibiting effects to Desmodesmus subspicatus after 72 h.

The No Observed Effect Loading Level (NOEL) and the Lowest Observed Effect Loading Level (LOEL) were assessed at NOEL: 100 mg/L; LOEL: > 100 mg/L.

A respiration inhibition test with activated sludge according to OECD 209 was performed under static conditions with the nominal limit concentration of 1000 mg/L. The test item caused no inhibiting effects at a concentration of 1000 mg/L to activated sludge of a municipal sewage treatment plant. The NOEC is 1000 mg/L.
