Additional information

The derivation of a PNEC is not possible. Justification: Pigment Red 254 was tested in concentrations far above its water solubility. No effects were observed in all test systems. Consequently, no LOEC, NOEC, or ECx - values can be calculated. Since these data are a prerequisite to estimate a PNEC it is not possible to derive this value.

As for Pigment Red 254 neither any ecotoxicity nor mammalian toxicity had been found, a PNECoral can not be derived.

Conclusion on classification

As no toxicity for any tested species of algae, aquatic invertebrates, fish, microorganisms and soil organisms (Eisenida fetida; Brassica rapa, Vicia sativa, Lollum perenne) could be found neither in acute nor in chronic tests, no environmental classification is proposed.
