Test solutions
- Vehicle:
- yes
- Details on test solutions:
- For formulation of the test concentrations used in the main study stock solutions of 500 and 280 mg/l test substance suspended in 2l of tapwater containing 0.2 ml Tween 80, were used. The suspensions formed were homogeneous and turbid. Subsequently the final test substance concentrations were made by diluting the stock solutions with tapwater.
The final volume was 10l.
CONTROLS:
Blank: test medium without test substance or other additives.
Tween-blank: test medium without test substance, but with the applied additive Tween 80, at a concentration of 0.02ml/l

Results and discussion
Effect concentrations
- Duration:
- 96 h
- Dose descriptor:
- LC50
- Effect conc.:
- 24 mg/L
- Nominal / measured:
- nominal
- Conc. based on:
- test mat.
- Basis for effect:
- mortality (fish)
- Remarks on result:
- other: 95% CI = 18-32mg/L
- Details on results:
- After 3 hours o f exposure all fish had died at 56 mg/l and 6 fish had died at 32 mg/l. The remaining 4 fish at 32 mg/l concentration were found immobile after 3 hours of exposure and had died after 24 hours of exposure. No mortality was observed at the other concentrations or the controls.
Effects other than mortality and immobility, were observed at 18 mg/l. These were: hypoactivity and discolouring. At 18 mg/l the number of affected fish and the type of effect remained constant after 24 hours.
Applicant's summary and conclusion
- Conclusions:
- 96h-LC50 for fish exposed to 1-Methoxy-2,7-Octadiene is calculated to be nominally 24mg/l with 0% mortality at 18 mg/l and 100% mortality at 32 mg/l.
