Description of key information

2-dimethylaminoethyl methacrylate is harmful to aquatic algae.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC50 for freshwater algae:
41.6 mg/L

Additional information

The determination of inhibitory effects of 2-dimethylaminoethyl methacrylate on Scenedesmus subspicatus was performed in a OECD Guideline 201 study (Alga, Growth Inhibition Test). The results of this study showed a EbC50 of 41.6 mg/L. The measurement of the growth inhibition showed a ErC50 value of 69.7 mg/L. Therefore, with high probability 2-dimethylaminoethyl methacrylate is harmful to aquatic algae.
