Description of key information

Due to the low logPow accumulation in organisms is not to be expected.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

In accordance with column 2 of Annex IX, the study does not need to be conducted if the 1-octanol/water partition coefficient is >3. At pH 4.7 2-ethylhexanoic acid has a measured logPow of 2.7 (see IUCLID section 4.7). A pKa of 4.76 indicates, indicates that the molecule will predominantly exist in its anionic form under environmental conditions and charged species are generally considered to be less bioaccumulative than their neutral counterpart. Therefore no test on bioaccumulation in soil organisms is performed.
