Description of key information

No long-term toxicity to fish studies were available for methacrylic acid, monoester with propane-1,2-diol.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The substance (methacrylic acid, monoester with propane-1,2-diol) is classified as readily biodegradable with a low potential for bioaccumulation (log Pow = 0.97). The risk characterization with regard to freshwater fish demonstrates that the PEC/PNECaqua ratio for the aquatic environment is <1, indicating no need for further information or testing. According to Column 2 of REACH Annex IX requirements, long-term toxicity testing shall only be considered when the chemical safety assessment indicates the need for further investigations. Hence, long-term testing in fish can be waived for methacrylic acid, monoester with propane-1,2-diol.
