Endpoint:
partition coefficient
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Reliability:
2 (reliable with restrictions)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
other: see 'Remark'
Remarks:
the Partition coefficient can not be measured by any of the available standard methods incl. calculation methods. The determined value is the result of a non steady state situation and represents more the different reactivity of the substance in the both protic solvents water and octanol.

Applicant's summary and conclusion

Conclusions:
The test item Ethyl 2 -cyanoacrylate has a partition coefficient of : Log Pow = 0.776 (RSD 14%)
It has to be noted that the test item Ethyl 2 -cyanoacrylate shows high reactivity towards water and octanol. Due to spontaneous polymerization, only trace amount of residual monomers can be evaluated. The reactivity of the residual Ethyl 2 -cyanoacrylate leads to varying results, as can be interpreted from the reported relative standard deviations (RSD).
The determined value is the result of a non steady state situation and represents more the different reactivity of the substance in the both protic solvents water and octanol.
