Description of key information

The lowest 48 h LL50 for Patchouli ext. based on nominal loading rates was 11 mg/L. This value can be used directly for classification but is unsuitable for derivation of PNEC since partitioning of components in the environment will make the comparison with PEC meaningless.

Additional information

The acute toxicity of the test item to the freshwater invertebrate Daphnia magna has been investigated and gave a 48-Hour EL50 value of 21 mg/L loading rate WAF (key study). The No Observed Effect Loading rate at 48 hours was 10 mg/L loading rate WAF.

A slightly lower 48-Hour EL50 of 11mg/L loading rate WAF was obtained in the supporting study. This value has been selected for the CSA for the purposes of classification.
