Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Data availability

There is a valid study available for i-BMA.

Discussion

The key study for the determination of the acute toxicity of i-BMA to aquatic invertebrates, using the fresh water flea Daphnia magna as test organism showed an EC50-48h of greater than 29mg/L (highest achievable conc. in flow-through study, Putt, 1985).

There is no data on marine invertebrates, but studies with the common metabolite of the category, methacrylic acid, indicate that marine species are not expected to be more sensitive to methacrylates than freshwater species (Sverdrup, 2001).
